Why do so many Africans mimc African-American culture?

I never see them act like the ones in Africa. They dress, speak, and listen to rap- pop, R&B, and hip-hop. Play basketball instead of Soccer.They dont dress in thier traditional clothing either...Some even go as far as calling themselves AFRICAN-AMERICAN..Why are they so quick to reject African culture when they leave Africa?
 
Because there isn't an Afrcan culture. All the races and ethnicities have culture and roots except blacks.
 
Why not? take it as a compliment that they enjoy the culture.

And why cant they do those things? african or not people have the right to enjoy whatever lifestyle they choose.
 
The main reason is because of the media. The African American style looks nice in general and so want to emulate it.But a friend of mine told me America is Babylonia in the Bible and thats why the lifestyle is being coped. By the way i am African and love traditional dressing so much and hate africans who cope the African American lifestyle
 
most black people are many generations removed from africa. their culture was just not tolerated in other coun tries. cultural diversity is a modern invention.
 
That's why I don't like to be called African American. Because African immigrants who become American citizens are called African American. Why can't they just be called African? They weren't born here just like we weren't born in Africa.
 
First, they are African American more than black Americans are since they are from Africa. So technically they can make that claim.

Second, who in this society doesn't want a piece of black American culture? The same can be said for almost every other cultural group in America and other places in the world. Black American music and culture has had a far reach. Remember it's cool to be black but no one really wants to be black.
 
IS THAT UR IDEA OF WHAT BLACK CULTURE IS? SPEAK AND LISTEN TO HIP-HOP AND DRESS LIKE A WANNA BE?

LAST TIME I CHECKED THAT WASNT HOW I WAS RAISED and considered to be black culture

A lot of people all over the world, whether from African descent or not, listen to rap, pop, R&B, and hip-hop, play basketball, and dress in modern styles.
