i was just thinking about my grampa, and how he is dead..so then i remembered his funeral...his was more like a party (native american funerals are like...happy but still sad)
but there was this black guy there who was wearing what he thought was native american clothes....why do ppl do tht?
im native and i wore normal fancy clothes to his funeral and not my native things (except jewelry,i wear my native jewelry alot)
was it wrong of me to think he looked stupid?...i mean..he was the only non-native who was wearing native clothes (the priest had on native clothes...but mostly, non of the natives had on indian stuff)
also,to ppl of different ethnicities...do u dislike it when you go to some kind of festival for your culture and seeing ppl who are not of tht culture trying to look it?
i hate that...how 'bout you?

It doesn't bother me. He was just trying to show respect. Maybe you felt weird because he was wearing Native American garb and you weren't, and you're Native American.

On St. Patty's day, I wear green. I'm not Irish and I don't care. I will play Metallica on the jukebox and i'm not white. Oh well!

If I want to sport a kimono tomorrow, i'll do so because I can.

Do you know that a lot of blacks have native in them? If not you make want to check into it you might be very surprised! Was he being loud or rude? If not believe me it is all respect excuse me for being rude but you sound like a female dog

ok, i'll tell u wut, im mexican, and it does make me feel kinda uncomfortable whenever ppl come down to mexico and start wearing 'sombreros' (mexican hat) or 'ponchos'...it seems to me like they r making fun of my culture, even tho these days mexican ppl dont really wear sombreros anymore, just a few of 'em...but i do think that if ppl is wearing this stuff, like in ur case, with respect, meaning no disrespect at all, its just ok, even kinda silly

He was doing what he thought was appropriate at the time.

No offense to white and black people--but sometimes they f--k up our cultures because they are not knowing a lot about them....which is highly annoying. It's okay though, that was his way of showing respect. The po boy didn't know.

I have Cuban in me though and get annoyed when white and black folk say dumb sh*t about our food, language, music, etc. Usually it's just to stir me up.

I guess, the place where I am at, we are more tolerant. We don't feel anything unless people try to copy the actions we do that are religious.

He would have thought it would have offended you more if he turned up wearing modern American clothes.
