...culture of their past? Seems, where I live.. People use "culture" as an excuse to segregate themselves from the rest of society.. I know people, who were born and raised in a state where 90% are white, yet have no white friends.. How is that even possible? Why even come here? If you preach backwards b.s. that you ran from, to get here??
Norma = Almost every question about race/culture/religion etc.. Would qualify as generalization.. Thanks for pointing out the obvious... I should've stated I was "generalizing" maybe?

I don't know. I have visited many countries, and enjoy getting to know the other culture and people. I would never move to another country and only associate with my native countrymen.

Don't know. Though we are a land of immigrants assimilation should be desired, it is not.

they came here expecting their kids/family to have a better future, but they want them not to forget their values, culture because they may not like how people in the states act, or because they want their kids to be proud of their background and not forget of who they truly are

That's what happens when you want to make your country an icon for globalisation.

If people come to another country then they should adopt that culture. I emigrated from UK to Australia in1969 and said the day I stepped of the boat " am now an Aussie" and adopted the culture as I could. Remember your roots yes, but remember you are a guest in the host country. If people can't do this then they should stay where they are, not bring their troubles with them.

So what? How many friends of other racial backgrounds does the average white person have? Without wanting to play the racist card, I believe your comment is rather generalist.

at least they have a culture...what SPECIFIC culture dwells within 80% of US citizens that doesnt also dwell within other cultures?

its called love the new life but dont forget where you come from.

& since people are IN america, we have the freedom to make friends with whomever we want...if its not the majority, then its not the majority...us not being your friend or giving you what you want, whenever you want isnt hurting you in any way
