I watched a documentary on BBC, it was basically about the friends and family members of recent knife crime victims in London. It made me feel very sad because some of those boys were actually brought to the UK by their parents who thought their kids would have a better life here. Obviously as an outsider (and being a girl) I know that I cannot understand the "street" lifestyle but I just can't stop thinking that the kids have a choice not to get involved...? By their own admission the reasons why rival gangs fight are often "childish" but they still do it, why?
Maybe it's a stupid question but if their parents see that the kids are getting into trouble, why don't they just move...don't say that they cannot afford to because they could get a council flat in another area or go away from London, surely it's worth saving their children's lives?
