Why do my camaro speakers click when they play any base?

It's a 96 Camaro convertable thats been restored from a complete and total wreck, but unless you see the pictures, you wouln't have believed it. The speakers worked fine for about a year, then the pass. side speaker started making this high pitched clicking whenever any kind of base would play. Its not static, as far as i can tell. Could it be a short?
 
Sounds like a blown speaker. There are A LOT of aftermarkets speakers that you can get for a fair price and will improve the sound over the OEM (stock) speakers.
