Why do asian people try so hard not to assimilate into American culture?

...or any other culture for that matter.

DISCLAIMER: This is half rant, and half question, so please view it as such. No serious harm was intended, though I may have thought about it once in a while. Read on an you'll know why. Also, don't give me crap for being racist, or hateful, I've just had a really bad month with exactly what you're about to read down below.

I'm asian myself, chinese to be specific, born and raised in the US of A (Go Seahawks!), but I can't stand it when other chinese girls and guys my age outright refuse to be a part of the country they're in! They literally just hang out in packs, like a bunch of dogs, and make ME look like the weird one hanging out with a mixed group of people.

Most of the fobs I know (I call only my own race fobs, so no racial slurs intended - and in case you didn't know, fob stands for fresh-out-of-the-boat), either do not even try to meet anyone outside of their own race, or just outright try and avoid them altogether... and people wonder why there are stereotypes! and hate crimes!

I also hate the fact that their english SUCKS most of the time, and though this may border (or even cross) the prejudice line, I really don't care for anyone who enunciates like a deaf person and always needs to repeat themselves in the line in Starbucks (or anywhere else for that matter), only to get angry because the guy/girl at the cashier cant tell whether they're looking for al pacino or trying to order a frappacino.

Obviously there are far and few between those who can speak english fluently, and those who I just described above, but come ON man, don't get ANGRY because YOU can't pronounce the goddam menu. Sheesh.

Although the melting pot of cultures and people is what makes our country (the U.S.A) the greatest country in the world, things like this irritate me daily, and it doesn't help that I live near a college campus. Is there a reason for this madness?

I say sure, keep your respective cultures close and don't forget them, but man does it piss me off when people don't give two sh*ts about other cultures when they take a step outside.
