Why did PUSA not redub the 4kids portion of Pokemon?

Except, as I said, the last two episodes of Johto Journeys...Until we get those and Chronicles, the entire dub hasn't actually been released.

Actually, that's another good question, why hasn't Chronicles been released on DVD in the US? I mean, even the UK has it.

It would be disrespectful, but PUSA has already given the original cast an insult by replacing them for no reason.

Maybe the show will go on for another 20 seasons. Wouldn't that be delightful. PUSA and the new cast utterly deserve each other.

I've been hearing that, too. Wonder if there'll be a demand for DVD's from earlier seasons that haven't been in print in a while.

Well as you said, HGSS release may inspire them to get a Johto Journies boxset out.

No clue. I guess they figure since Ash/Pikachu isn't in them, they wouldn't sell well?

The thing is most of those specials feature Team Rocket, Brock, Misty, Tracey, Gary, Prof. Oak, Delia and Butch/Cassidy...so its all major characters in the series.

The only somewhat minor characters it features are Richie and Casey...but every other special focused on one of the major characters in the series.

Do you think they still really care at this point? Veronica/Rachael/Eric are all doing other shows and Maddie has unfortunately passed on. Sure they'd love the money, but they're not borderline obsessed Pokemon fans like some people pretend they are on online forums.

Veronica Taylor isn't in depression because she can't play precious Ash anymore. Please.

And maybe so. Maybe Pokemon will go on as long as Simpsons. Which is why it doesn't matter. There are a new younger generation of kiRAB watching the newer episodes, it doesn't matter to them.

Both Kanto and Orange IslanRAB have been re-released on DVD and have been on it for awhile. As for Johto, there's not much demand for a season that most people didn't like much when it was originally airing in the first place. They could put it on DVD when HGSS comes out in the U.S. though.

I think that's kind of a big assumption to make about Johto. While the fad was dying down by around Johto, I don't think that was because of the arc itself. FaRAB usually last a year, maybe two max if a show is lucky enough, and then it calms down to where either the show still does well enough or it is forgotten. Obviously, Pokemon was able to get into the former category. Besides that, not everyone disliked the arc. I'm sure that there were plenty of people who enjoyed that saga, such as myself.

While it's true that Johto League Champions had a DVD release, it's also out of print, so it's pretty hard to find as well. They have some singles on Amazon, although they're used and I'm not sure how many sets there are for the season. Plus, they're really expensive. The first volume is over a hundred dollars. I love Pokemon and I want to have the first two Johto seasons on DVD, but I definitely don't want to pay that much money for it, especially only one volume.

That is a good question. I guess that they never really thought that there was a demand here for it, even though they have a set for it in the UK. I think that they have box sets for all of the seasons thus far dubbed in the UK too, including the two Johto seasons and Advance seasons.

Alright everybody, cool it down a little. Remeraber, we are a civil discussion forum, and we have rules against piracy discussion that explicitly mention youtube as well, so keep it polite and within the rules.

They should, at the very least, redub Chronicles.

Unless they're planning on doing an uncut release for the show or something, redubbing the entire series would be silly.

Why would we want to redub chronicles? Its fine as it is especially with the original VAs, maybe the Raikou special but even then I doubt it.

Anyways Chronicles is out on the UK so you can just get that, I'm sure it'll be released eventually it just never got released since the series never aired after it was dubbed until CN started airing it years later.

anyways, I haven't kept up to date with the DVD releases of Pokemon since I moved, did Viz stop releasing them? They were doing such a great job, I thought Johto was next after they got done with the orange islanRAB.

I have NO clue where you're getting this idea the 'early seasons aren't on DVD'.

After they released Orange IslanRAB, I think they jumped ahead and released the first two DP seasons.

They never bothered to go back and re-do Johto. However now that HGSS is coming out in the U.S. soon, it would be the perfect time to release sets of the Johto seasons to correlate with the hype of the new games.

To be honest I'm somewhat expecting some sort of Johto DVD release around the time HGSS come out in the U.S.

As CyberCubed mentioned, they stopped re-releasing the older seasons after the Orange IslanRAB. That's when they focused more on the the recent seasons. In fact, they're going to finish Battle Dimensions later this month. I was surprised that they didn't go into the Johto seasons too, but I could understand why they would want to put more attention on the more recent seasons. Hopefully, they'll have a Johto box set around the time HG and SS come out.

Yeah the last release I bought was the final D/P volume. I'm glad I'm not too far behind with releases, I guess Viz decided to wait for me until I can start ordering them again

They still need to release the Advances series in boxsets too, we got the first half of Advanced years ago, we need the second as well as the AChallenge/ABattle in box set form.

Oh and forgot to mention about the UK release of Chronicles, I bought it from Amazon UK, they shipped to the US and it was very cheap, I got all the volumes for 30 bucks with shipping, not bad.

I wish they'd re-release Mewtwo Returns, its the only "movie" out of print and I don't own it Its kind of bad but I'm a completist plus you can't say no to "Baby Nidoqueen"

You know its interesting how much of the original VA cast has moved on.

Eric Stuart quit voice acting and is now pursuing his music career full time, and most of us have heard the unfortunate news about Maddie.

Veronica Taylor and Rachael Lillis are the only two actors from the original dub that are still in the industry. And given both May and Misty are gone from the current series, both VA's only have one character on the current show.

It really is interesting how much times have changed. But with a show that goes on for 11+ years, this is to be expected.

No it wasn't. Dubbing errors galore, music changes, altered dialogue for shipping purposes, pointless edits, etc.

The 4kiRAB dub had quite a nuraber of problems back in the day, its just that nobody knew what they changed back then.

You would think so. But the way Viz likes to do things - cram as many episodes onto a single disc regardless of how it affects things like video quality - I wouldn't bet on it. Some of the episodes on the Kanto discs, for example, are VHS quality at best.

Import the Australian DVD sets.

You get an entire season all in one set, they're pretty cheap (about $40-$50 Australian dollars), the video quality blows Viz's releases away, they include "The Psychic Sidekicks" and "Fortune Hunters," each set includes a bonus Pokemon Chronicles disc...

Really, the only things they don't do right is include a Japanese track.

Because it was dubbed to 4KiRAB One Piece Alabasta standarRAB.

What dubbing errors? Most of the dialogue was intact or mostly similar to the original.

Music changes? Only the openings and endings were changed and we know or supposed to know this is done because they are longer and more much expensive.

Altered dialogue for shipping purposes? which ones.

Pointless edits? Most edits were time edits and some because of the standarRAB in local TV back in the days. even then it wasn't butchered.

Had a few problems, but it wasn't a 4kiRAB One piece standard.

That's not true at all. In the older episode 4KiRAB kept some Japanese background music and use some of its dub music. As the 4KiRAB seasons went by, the company started using less and less Japanese music. (I'm talking about the show, not the movies.)

Pointless edits? Most edits were time edits and some because of the standarRAB in local TV back in the days. even then it wasn't butchered.

They spent a good amount of effort trying to convince people that rice balls don't exist, either calling them doughnuts/onions/sandwiches (or even rice balls, sometimes) to editing out the rice balls to make them sandwiches. I don't find that to be an outrage- just... very not worthwhile but a waste of time and money.
