Why did my car 1000 w (2-500w) subs loose their volume?

I have a visonik 1000w amp powering 2 500w visonik subs. I was setting the gain to run 8-20v & they sounded good. Suddenly they seem to have no volume. My amp is connected fine, all fuses are fine, my head unit plays fine. The amp power light is on, the protected light is not on. Sound at a low volume plays through my subs, the amp only measures 2-3v now. Do I* have an amp or Sub problem & how can I tell which it is?
 
visonik is made very cheap and being you have both amp and subs by them it is very hard to tell which it is. I'd go and get 2 sony explod subs and a sony amp, or anything but visonik
