why are people so quick to deny flaws in their own culture?

I worked at a company of Indians where the culture was so tight, the mother father and sister ( cousins as well) worked there.

If one messed up, they would come together and lie to protect each other.

Sad.... and destructive

I find that when we question obvious problems in the black community, there is a general outcry of "false", "racist", "sell out", or just plain tit for tat.

What do you think we can do as a community to address our problems more effectively?

i think if people really love their culture then they dont want to admit anything is bad in it. i believe tht their r obvious problems in the black community, as does evry community and we need to remember tht. and sometimes people arnt going to help us. in tht case we need to help ourselves and we need to be the person to help others. in this case its a matter of do the walk, not do the talk. :)

Gain an individuality. This "group" mentality is harming those of us who choose to be ourselves and not side with every issue the "community" decides on.
