Why are latinos abiding to the white/black cultures?

Mexicans seem to be the only true latinos these days. Puerto Ricans, Cubans and Dominicans want to act black and Central Americans and south americans want to be white. Can't we hispanics just start our own culture in the US like the Mexicans have? Why should we conform to the white and black cultures? What do you guys think?

I think you'd be better off if you didn't adhere to any culture. Just be yourself and do what makes YOU happy.

Just imagine what the world would be like if everyone did that.

How do you act white? I don't abide by any culture that I don't feel comfortable with. The black and white American culture is not for me since I didn't grew up in it. Sure, I love Independence Day and listen to American songs and watch English-speaking television. How does that make white? I think you're confusing trying to act white by just acting like a person that lives here. Assimilation does not mean binding to white or black culture.

I'm tired of people saying that. Puerto Ricans go to the black culture but many South Americans, Mexicans, and Caribbeans are fiercely proud of their culture (what culture do we need to start if we have our own already). They are attached to it. I like Japanese and Italian cultures. I eat food from almost any part of the world. I listen to all types of music in different languages. I don't use slang words but I do curse a lot. I dress almost in the same way every girl my age dresses. So what am I?

um..
at first i thought this question was actually gonna make sense, buuut it doesn't.
