Why are "highly educated" people often working FOR successful companies...

Simple. most highly educated people don't take chances, because they can see all the pitfalls, whereas the modivated uneducated become successful , because they take chances and some become very successful and hire the educated ones to run their companies**********************

Native intelligence and other privileges such as social networks trump formal education.

I think about this all the time. Einstein was a bad math and physics student who thought about the universe differently than other "schooled". Many of my managers in businesses I've worked for, or non-commissioned officers in the army, were horrible writers with meager vocabularies (probably due to lack of college education), but who also wielded beaucoup power. The list goes on and on.

Formal education is not only a gamble that may or may not yield the expected tangible benefits, it's also a potential opportunity cost at the college age.

Life is often not fair and our society is not a "perfect meritocracy."

not too many multi million CEO'S are drop outs...most successful companies owned by drop outs are run by highly educated people...not the drop outs

Bill Gates is about the only creator of a successful company that I can think of who dropped out of college.

Do you have any evidence that a significant proportion of entrepeneurs never went to college? If so, please share it with us.

I just did a little research and I found that 80% of this nation's billionaires have completed a college education.

I knew one person that had his own company. He was narcissistic and arrogant and would never accept criticism from anyone. All he could do was to be the boss. I'm sure not true of all but personality type has a lot to do with it I think.
