Why are black and white latinos stripped of their culture but

mestizo/Mulatto latinos aren't? What makes Me, George Lopez or A-Rod more Latino than David Ortiz or Christina Augilera?

Why is a Mestizo/Mulatto Latino who doesn't know a lick of spanish or anything about their culture allowed to call himself latino yet a white latino or black latino is expected to call themselves white or black?

Why is a pure Indigenous Latino considered "more" latino than a white latino when Indians have nothing to do with Spanish or any Latin Language?

Why can't Latinos of all races choose to identify how they please?
 
Well for starters Christina is half white. Her mother is Scottish or something and not from a Latin American country, prieto.

Secondly, the Indigenous people were the first people there! You are basically saying, "Why is a white Philippino not really looked at as Phillipino" It is OBVIOUS. Sure you have the culture, but that's just the way it is.

Thirdly I'm surprised you're not happy that black latinos are expected to call themselves black. Don't you hate dark people?
 
Leonel, each person is different. I know Latinos that are passionately in love with their culture, as well as those who hide and are ashamed of their heritage.

It boils down to the way the person was raised, the social circle he or she grew up in and the culture the individual assimilates better to.

When it comes to race and culture, there is not one solid, scientifically provable answer.

Live proud, work hard and make your heritage an asset, not a liability.
 
Probably because so many blacks call themselves Latino as it's better to be considered Latino than black. Of course, if Napoleon had won, all Mexicans would be French. How was that going to work ?
 
Sometimes a person who can identify himself as "Latino" will choose to do so if there is an advantage to it. For example, white Argentinians who want to be admitted to universities under affirmative action for Hispanic people. However, "Latino" in the United States is a very inexact description. Nobody can strip someone of their culture without their consent. You can choose to learn or retain Spanish, play the music, whatever. This does not depend on someone else's perception of you.

Because with black latinos or white latinos,whites or blacks are so quick to lay a guilt trip on them or try to claim them
