Why are asians so critical of non-asians who cook their food?

I recently cooked a full course asian meal for some friends and my family. One of my family members invited an asian person. She is chinese and she is here on a foreign exchange student program. During the meal she quizzed me about the ingredients and I answered her questions, only to have her constantly tell me my food was not authentic. Why do asians always insist on cutting down non-asians who make their food? It doesn't matter how I say I made something, seems like asians want to say "oh, its not authentic". What gives? How should I respond to all this hate?

In their culture, food may represent a lot of things for them and for them to have that messed up by a "non-asian" then it may be insulting. It's like buying a voodoo doll from a Real African Voodoo Priest or buying one from Walmart. But of course you have feelings too.

you should have booted her up the arrse and threw her out by the scruff of her scrawny neck

I'm Asian and my grandma lets non-Asians cook from her recipe book; she certainly does not quiz them on the ingredients and actually enjoys the meal.
