Who's the Better guitarist?

Reading this thread, I just realized I recently watched a taping of the G3 festival where the three of these guys played. I must say, it's pretty impressive watching all of these guys do what they do.

"Hey I bet I can play fast over an E minor back track while using the E harmonic minor scale"

I prefer Vai, though I love Satch, because of his album The Fire Garden, just great! The Crying Machine is my favorite song on it and it's the best instrumental I've ever heard!

I've never been able to get into the whole shredding thing, but some of the Steve Vai songs I've heard were at least tolerable. So I'll go with him.

If i had to pick one of the three it would be Vai.

Having been to loaRAB of gigs i tend to judge guitarists on whether they bore the sh1t out of me with endless wanking off solo's. The only gig where i've not been bored was Gary Moore on the "Still Got The Blues" tour. Whilst Vai and Satriani are great for a few minutes, Malmsteen bores me rigid just by walking on the stage.

Personally, Satch does it for me.
Vai is indeed a genius, but I prefer Satchmo's sound.

And Yngwie is just fat and has a stupid name.
But he can still shred.

is there a none of the above? lol. ill give it to satch for having some originality, but all of them play with all speed and no feeling - i want them to just hold a note out longer than a 32nd of a beat for a change

He meant that the 80s had a huge amount of talentless wankers who thought they could shred like Vai and Malmsteen but couldn't.

Like CC Deville.

I guess I just compare Latimer to Gilmour because they're both in prog rock banRAB, both show an incredible depth of emotion in their writing/performing and are both quite bluesy at times.

This was made by someone for Yngiwe Malmsteen. Ridiculous.

^True. He was entertaining to watch though...with all the throwing of the guitar over his back. Vai did an amazing job at that show.
