Suppose that in the future, 99% of the population with have a college bachelor's degree and 49% have master's and higher. In this society, about 100% are literate and 97% have taken a course in precalculus. Every single person that you bump into is an intellectual with a fair amount of background in an academic subject s/he choose to focus on. There is very little crime in this world, aside from a few sociopaths who do murder but do it for their own demented philosophical reasons not religious. The majority will obviously be qualified for nearly any job avaiable in the market: attorney, mathematician, physicist, historian, art critic, etc. With this much education and self-awareness of their own value, who in this future society will take up the garbage?
