I think we need 1 nation. Land belongs to no one. Of course there would need to be divisions, such as states, because the world is a big place. But we need to stop being the enemies of eachother, because in reality, the forces of the Universe are much more powerful than we can ever hope to be, one blink can wipe out all Human nature and evidence of our existance. We need to learn to tame the forces, which can't be done by 1 nation, it needs to be a united effort. If we can't overcome division and greed, the time the next killer meteorite hits us, all we will be able to do is, with a stupid expression on our face, watch it all come crashing down.

Billions of years of evolution, and not one of the billions of species were smart enough to realise that they needed to overcome division and greed.
and, no, I am not smoking anything, norv will I ever will. I don't even drink. I am also 14.
We can't be declaring war on eachother every few years, we are not getting anything done by this.
When we are facing the risk of becoming extinct, we do need to change our ways if we are to go on.
This vision isn't communist, and yes, war does have innovations, but they are heavily outweighed by the disadvantages. We are becoming a powerful species, and we are becoming so powerful that we might just ruin ourselves. The thing that I don't like is the fact that the in the US, people feel that they are better than the UK and Australia, and the Brits and Aussies are against us Americans. We have new motivation for advances, and that is not war with people, but with nature. We are talking about if we survive.

Another idealist.

You cannot separate human nature from the human. The UN will always be what it is now, no matter what face you give it.

The world will never be a utopia where everyone is holding hands and singing Kumbaya.

Humans are and always will be self-serving by nature

More human innovations have been made during war than through any effort of multinational cooperation. Fear is a powerful motivation and necessity is the mother of invention. I've got other cliches but you get the idea. We can and in fact do have wars every few years. If you want to discuss the benefits (yes I said war has benefits) then we can do that at any time. The problem with the communist utopia you envision is that it takes away the motivation for the in ovation you desire. People create things so that they can get ahead, catch up or make their mark. If we live it the communist utopia then none of those things exists. Your only motivation would be the betterment of all mankind, which while it sounds nice, is not really a 'measurable and attainable' goal. If you want to see humans invent the solution to a killer asteroid then tell them there is one coming and watch the majic happen.
