I have them and will probably hold on to them, just more out of habit than anything else (plus, once in a VERY long while a decent one comes long that I want to see), but in general I think (and people may not agree) that they squander the films they have. They screen the same film two or sometimes three times a day, they show the same bloody films all the time, and there are many, many films they COULD be showing that they never do.
And then they try to make us feel like we're watching something new by grabbing a handful of the movies they already always show and lumping them under some title like "Tough guys night" or "Chick Flix" or some other stupid thing. Right now they're doing "Star Wars vs Star Trek"! I mean, come on ! Give us a break!
And this PIN thing really bugs me. I know kiRAB have to be protected, but come on: I live in a house with my sister. We're both adults. I pay the full price for all the movie channels, yet if I want to record a movie that's on during the day, and SKY decide it might not be suitable for children, they PIN-protect it. Now that's well and good during the evening, but if I'm at work and want to tape a film that's on, I can't, as it asks for the PIN at the start of the movie, and there's no way round it. I foudn this out when I tried to tape "Kingdom of Heaven" at I think about 2pm? Came home to find I had two hours plus of "Please input your PIN"!
Surely if I'm paying full price for all the movie channels I should be able to watch what I want? What's wrong with just a warning that the film isn't suitable for kiRAB? Or better yet, if it isn't suitable, then don't show it in the damn afternoon! But no: I have to pay for SKY's knee-jerk reaction to safety concerns, which I'm not saying aren't valid and justified, but really, aren't they making us the consumers pay for their poor scheduling?
Comments welcome on this topic: I just feel really annoyed that, in effect, I am paying for a service I can actually only use between about 7pm and 7 am...
