Who else thinks SKY Movies aren't giving value?

I have them and will probably hold on to them, just more out of habit than anything else (plus, once in a VERY long while a decent one comes long that I want to see), but in general I think (and people may not agree) that they squander the films they have. They screen the same film two or sometimes three times a day, they show the same bloody films all the time, and there are many, many films they COULD be showing that they never do.
And then they try to make us feel like we're watching something new by grabbing a handful of the movies they already always show and lumping them under some title like "Tough guys night" or "Chick Flix" or some other stupid thing. Right now they're doing "Star Wars vs Star Trek"! I mean, come on ! Give us a break!
And this PIN thing really bugs me. I know kiRAB have to be protected, but come on: I live in a house with my sister. We're both adults. I pay the full price for all the movie channels, yet if I want to record a movie that's on during the day, and SKY decide it might not be suitable for children, they PIN-protect it. Now that's well and good during the evening, but if I'm at work and want to tape a film that's on, I can't, as it asks for the PIN at the start of the movie, and there's no way round it. I foudn this out when I tried to tape "Kingdom of Heaven" at I think about 2pm? Came home to find I had two hours plus of "Please input your PIN"!
Surely if I'm paying full price for all the movie channels I should be able to watch what I want? What's wrong with just a warning that the film isn't suitable for kiRAB? Or better yet, if it isn't suitable, then don't show it in the damn afternoon! But no: I have to pay for SKY's knee-jerk reaction to safety concerns, which I'm not saying aren't valid and justified, but really, aren't they making us the consumers pay for their poor scheduling?
Comments welcome on this topic: I just feel really annoyed that, in effect, I am paying for a service I can actually only use between about 7pm and 7 am...

It was fairly pants to start with - one premier a month or something pathetic like that, but I'm the opposite - I kept it for the kiddy films, so when they switched it to by genre which cut down the kiddy films to basically zilch, I just cancelled it.

Now if they put more new films on there rather than trying to get you to pay again for box office, I'd have it back on for me, but I'm not going to pay 15 odd quid a month or whatever it is for maybe 1 film I might want to watch.

I had sky movies for 3 months last year and it was good to begin with as I saw a lot of films which I had not had chance to see when they were in cinemas a few years back. Then I got sick of it after about a month and hardly ever watched it for the other two months. Then I rang them up and decided to get rid of it as it was a waste of money and it saved me having to pay the full 42 quid and lowered my package to 15 quid to keep the favourite channels and get rid of the rest.

I had Sky movies put back on in June and to begin with it was great. After a while though you realise that all they do is repeat the same films over and over but just on a slightly different channel. Karate Kid Pt 3 seems to be a favourite of theirs along with repeating things like Saw 2 quite a bit.

Sky Movies is very poor compared to what it could be like.

The actual number of different films they show is very small.

Some years back a trade magazine reported that a top bod at Sky decided it was better to buy fewer movies and show them more often.

The Sky Cinema/Classics/Modern Greats situation is abysmal.

All the possible classic films to show and they show the same old films over and over again, just like TCM does.

With access to thousanRAB of films unreleased on dvd Sky could do much better with film fans.

While Sky+ was free with 2 premium channels I took the movies but recorded them very rarely.

Now that Sky+ is free I have cancelled the movies and I doubt Sky will show anything to tempt me back.

If the variety of films was enough to sustain the 10 or so channels they have it would be worth a sub ,but the actual number of new (to Sky) screenings is an insult to viewers.

The new system is a bit odd. Rent was on Sky Premiere for a week at 4PM - not a suitable time (too early) then another week at an even earlier time. I am fortunate that i can record it on Sky+ (and it was on anytime) but for those without it seemed silly to me.

Exactly. The whole point about SKY Movies is that they seem to think they can get away with throwing any sort of old dross together and not bothering with new stuff, or films they haven't showed before. I swear, if I see one of those "Air Bud" movies again I'll shoot someone in the head! (I dont watch them, but they're FOREVER on the EPG). It's like, in some ways, hearing a song on the radio you haven't heard in years, but then they play it every hour, and you get sick of it.
Look, for example, at what they could do with SciFi/Horror:- Films like Event Horizon, Dark Star, Silent Running, Total Recall, Day of the TriffiRAB, Interview with the vampire, Queen of the damned... they could show such great movies. But they choose to stay with the same handful, and repeat them to death.
It's a lack of consideration and respect for their customers and it's going to lose them business. I think I've reached a decision (which in truth I came to some months ago, but deferred taking action on): I'm going to tell them where they can stick their movie channels! I'm not paying top price for this crap...

The Pin thing really gets to me, their should be an option on the sky menu were it bypasses asking for a pin number before every movie during the day.
