which is faster: Kawasaki KLR 650 or Suzuki SV650?

I don't know much about motorcycles. But I did ride my friend's KLR and it was pretty quick.
I was thinking about buying a naked bike. I was wondering if, say, a SV650 is faster than the
KLR 650. Thanks.
 
"Faster" refers to top speed. The SV wins that contest. "Quick" refers to acceleration from a stop, or time through a 1/4 mile. Due to its light weight and bottom-end torque, the KLR would probably be quickest off the mark, but it would be difficult to keep it from looping backward. At any rate, the SV would pass it and do the 1/4 mile in much less time.
 
Since the KLR is more of a trail bike than a true road bike it will have gearing more suited to off-road riding than on-road so the SV should have a higher top speed.
