neither of them are really even sport bikes i have owned both of them the 500r was junk the gs500f was reliable but was slower than death if youre gonna get a sport bike thats good for a beginner actually get a sport bike the ninja er6n and the 650 r are great for beginners verry forgiving but enough power for a seasoned rider youre gonna grow out of the gs500f in a month with the er6n its almost the same price as the 500r but you get a 650 and youll love it for years to come.

...Suzuki GS500F? I'm 17 and looking to get my first sport bike i have never owned a motorcycle before but i have ridden dirt bikes for about 4 years, im just hoping someone who may have owned one of these bikes or have ridden them could give me some inside to which is the better of the two. Thanks

I personally like the Suzuki more. Suzukis are known to be easier to drive in comparison to Kawasakis, which are notorious for their ruggedness. Either way, both bikes are relatively small and they should not be hard to control consequent to a few hours on the saddle.
Another strong point for the Suzuki would be its reliability, as Kawasakis are known to be among the lest reliable Japanese motorcycles (still, it does not mean a Kawasaki is not reliable, just that statistics have shown that they are behind Suzukis at this aspect)
