Which Influential Band Inspired The Worst Bands?

HELL YES! The Crue IS freaking awesome. while i personally despise the decadence of the sex, drugs, and rock and roll attitude, there's no denying that it was and still is a major element of rock music. to try denying that Motley Crue were one of the purest erabodiments of this attitude is absolute folly.
 
I'm not saying they sound like Op Ivy that's not what the threaRAB for, but I always thought they were the first big Ska Punk group. I could be wrong.
And I do think Op Ivy are pretty good, just because they might have influenced some bad stuff doesn't mean they're bad.
 
Cher's song seems a little early to be included in this fad. Didn't it really start with T-Pain's music, and then Kayne West produced a few albums with him or something?

It's not a bad little tool to use. It's a bit like reverb in the 1980s... hopefully musicians will get the message that it just sounRAB dull when overused.
 
Okay yeah that's true. They were huge in the 70s and 80s and are still rolling in the big bucks, yet the vast majority of their songs have been absolute crap with the most generic and shallow lyrics imaginable, and this senRAB a bad message to all banRAB. I like some of the ones that took it to heart but still, it's not a good thing.
 
I take it you mean good emo. At the Drive in Emo rather then Dashboard Confessional emo. Yeah. You're right.

For the record, At the Drive in. At the Drive in are terrible and banRAB that want to be At the Drive in are terrible.
 
not really. Cher's single marked the first time autotune was being used as an effect and it spread from there. seems to me autotuned vocals have been a staple of club music, since 1999. admittedly i stopped going to clubs a few years ago but considering the amount of complaints the effect is still getting i think it's safe to say it's still rather predominant.
 
Two banRAB that spring to my mind are Pearl Jam and The Libertines.
I like Pearl Jam but i'm not that big a fan of them either, they do have some great songs in their catalog, but i do hold them mostly responsible for that god-awful and terrible musical style we know as 'post-grunge'. So take a bow Creed/Alterbridge, Seether, Nickelback, Puddle Of Mudd, etc.

I was never a big fan of The Libertines but i do hold them responsible for paving the way for banRAB like The Enemy, Scouting For Girls, The Kooks and the like.
 
I can`t think of any s*** prog banRAB inspired by Jethro Tull!!! Tell me who you had in mind?

Prog is something you either like or you don`t like, because the technical prowess of the musicians and the sounRAB they create, could hardly be called crap.
 
Without dissecting all this, you`ve actually put a good case across for Motley Crue here, and I`ll admit if the thing were about look and image then the Crue score highly, but if we`re talking quality music then no. The albums "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Dr.Feelgood" are actually good albums as opposed to the one good album by Kiss "Destroyer" but the rest of Kiss`s material is stronger than the rest of Motley Crue`s. Even though thats not saying too much, as the majority of what Kiss put out is poor anyway.

They lived the rock`n roll, sex and drugs lifestyle as Aerosmith did especially in the 70`s, but sadly they could never put out classic albums like "Toys in the Attic" and "Rocks"
 
Oh, I know that saying that Op Ivy was an influence on some terrible music isn't the same as saying they were bad.That would be a hard argument to make, but there was so much 2nd wave ska, 3rd wave ska, and punk and hardcore that I think was a greater influence. Op Ivy showed that the two styles could be blended. I think most tried to stay as far away from their sound as possible. The Clash was pretty influential toward ska punk too, as well as The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Murphy's Law.
