Which Influential Band Inspired The Worst Bands?

Yeah people can dismiss them as having no musical talent (even though I can try to argue otherwise) but no band was ever so decadent. Even banRAB that got as wasted as Motley Crue didn't get as much quality poontang.

Menudo - We really didn't need all those boy banRAB that followed, they did nothing but launch Tiraberlakes career, or are we just talking rock banRAB?

I think that Motley Crue deserves a mention because I can't stand them alone, and the glam rock/ hair metal scene that launched afterwarRAB was not any better.

MR. BUNGLE

i effing love Bungle, that band is awesome. however they're directly responsible for Korn, and indirectly responsible for Slipknot - and those are two of the better examples of their popular influence.

the worse thing about Bungle's influence is that it seems to have inspired a bunch of relatively talented kiRAB into ditching their creativity so they could be mimics instead. rather than recognizing the greatness of Bungle's ability to weave a myriad of genres fluidly into one piece and finding their own scraps of mainstream styles that could be folded into a new dress, they play circus funk. great. and your vocalist creates lyrics using Penthouse magazine and a thesaurus... fabulous. :bonkhead:

Oh. I was talking more from a hip hop / pop perspective though. It only seems to me like I've been hearing it on the radio since 2006 or so.

/facepalm.

I'm going to be gentle and asume you're confusing The Velvet Underground with something else though. Red Velvet Revolver maybe?

I think I mentioned this somewhere above on the thread and groups like Aerosmith, Kiss, New York Dolls and Alice Cooper were highly influential on hair metal but I`d say that Van Halen and DEF Leppard were the direct culprits though.

Oops, I ment Dashboard Confessional are terrible. I shouldn't post after the sleeping pills kick in, I like At the Drive in a lot......
Angry emo>whiney pitchy bitching

EDIT: Yes they are!!!!!!

EDIT 2: Jesus god I'm a ****ing retard. I would jump in the river if it wasn't full of nuclear runoff.

i always blamed these guys.

while they may not be full on cheesy hair rock, their followers... well... let's see...

spandex became a more revealing replacement to jumpsuits
arrogance and decadence - check
poofy hair - super check
wanky guitar solos? - hell yes
excessive vocal balladeering on slower songs - AAAAAHHHHHHHHH aaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH awwwwwwwwwwww AAAAAHHHHHHHHH aaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH awwwwwwwwwwww AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (bonus points to whoever guesses the tune)

Music would be pretty shitty without the VU's influence. They influenced countless banRAB.

EDIT: Meh, I may as well rattle off a few artists the VU influenced:

The Jesus & Mary Chain
Sonic Youth
Joy Division
Bowie
Sonic Youth
The Pixies
R.E.M
Roxy Music
Nirvana, funnily enough.

I don't think Girls, Girls, Girls is as good as Shout at the Devil and when you said "the rest of Kiss's material," did you mean 70s Kiss? 80s Kiss is usually overlooked and for good reason:

I don't mind stupidity in music but I have to draw a line somewhere. The video is hilarious but I wouldn't listen to the song on its own. But I guess I should acknowledge that Kiss is great making money and staying popular, because even their horrific 80s albums sold well.
Maybe when I have enough posts, I should start a thread asking people what stuff they know is cheesy but they still like.
