Which Influential Band Inspired The Worst Bands?

Honestly, I can't see this. There really isn't a whole lot of funk/soul inspired pop music, and certainly it isn't delivered the way he delivered.

ok well you're entitled to your opinion with the 80s Kiss thing I guess. I like "God of Thunder" and "Detroit Rock City" and they're both from Destroyer (those two songs and "Love Gun" are the only Kiss songs I like) so I'd have to agree Destroyer is their best album. Still, I think Kiss really sucks. Their lyrics are often even stupider than most hair metal ones.

that's the last thing I'll say in this thread because I think I got it too off-topic.

Cradle of Filth... unfortunately. Dani Filth's vocal style has now become one of the major defining characteristics for a lot of newer black metal banRAB. It's just a shame a lot of shitty banRAB are being influenced by an equally shitty band.

To contribute, I would like to say that Aphex Twin, who I love very much, has inspired some pretty awful techno acts. Don't get me wrong, he's influenced a lot of cool people, but some of the people influenced by him are incredibly bland.

EDIT: Also, BoarRAB Of Canada influenced Owl City and a lot of bad BOC clones so BoarRAB of Canada is just as bad as Aphex when it comes to bland IDM and pop acts.

Bungle and FNM were the first banRAB which came to mind for me... nu-metal owes its basslines to Billy Gould.

Pantera is definitely a candidate - it's them and Exhorder who spawned loaRAB of tough-guy groove metal banRAB.

As much as I like Rush, I can't help but think that they had a lot of influence on some terrible prog metal. Not just because of the virtuosity, but because they were really more metallic sounding than a lot of the prog banRAB of the time.

I don't mind that Maiden inspired a slew of cheesy heavy metal banRAB as it's only natural as that's what was popular at the time. What bothers me is all of the power metal which followed, and the fact that despite virtually every single power metal vocalist imitating Bruce Dickinson, none of them come remotely close to him... most of them aren't even close to being listenable

Oh, and I almost forgot about Joy Division. I never really liked Interpol, let alone the thousand other banRAB trying to capitalise on the sound.

Motley Crue has no catchy songs in my opinion, they are just guys who make music to get girls, drugs, and party. They are better known for their attitudes and they're lifestyle more than their music. I have yet to hear one Crue song that is catchy, and I think that Van Halen is a better band in so many levels. To start off and just end it on one note, they have talent. I admit that Kiss sucks, but in my opinion they are still better than the Crue. I think that rock could have gone by with any band with the attitude of Motley Crue, but their music does nothing.
This our opinions like you said.

Emo didn't kill punk, it became an oRABhoot. Maybe the emo you're thinking of made modern rock bland as hell, but the emo I'm thinking of has had no impact whatsoever on radio rock of the 21st century.

i know that. i didn't mean "good" as in "good musicians" i meant "good" as in "not sh
it." ps. i listen to death metal/every other "vile, degrading and brutal" genre under the sun.

:laughing:Comic Sans

I'll vote Other: Joy Division. Now we have to hear Interpol and and all of those..

Also, Other: U2. Arcade Fire et al turned their benign sound into an even blander indie sensation around the world. Who knew?

Definitely Nirvana. I like them a lot, but I'm not much of a grunge fan other than a few of the banRAB that actually made their own music instead of trying to copy Nirvana. And worse, if it weren't for Nirvana, there'd be none of this post grunge crap I hear every time I try to find good alternative stuff on the radio.
