Which films really shock you?

The last time I was genuinely shocked by a film was probably "28 Weeks Later", in the scene where
Don becomes infected and butchers wife Alice, by punching her until she coughs blood, ripping her throat out with his teeth and pressing his thumbs into her eyes until they pop! It was one of the most savage scenes I have watched, and is made even more disturbing by the fact that the Infected are technically NOT zombies - they are still alive and still have memories and know who they are killing, and that Alice is strapped down and unable to do anything other than scream :(

I was also shocked by Halloween: Ressurection, when
Michael kills Laurie - she was the main protagonist of the series, so her murder shocked me, she's one of the characters who you expect to survive the franchise.

Punisher: War Zone left me utterly shell-shocked after watching it last night, due to the fact that it's BLOODY AWFUL!!!

Even Batman & Robin was a vastly superior movie; amusingly, it actually looked like the sets from that piece of trash were recycled for this putrid cesspit of a film. The main villian - Jigsaw - and his retarded brother, were quite possibly the most laughably bad, hammy, OTT comic-book characters I've ever seen come to life on screen. I've honestly met hamsters more menacing than those 2 pathetic buffoons.

Agree, upsetting but amazing film. I don't really get that shocked now with films, though the last one that I watched that was rather intense was the French film Martyrs.

I didn't find that rape in Scum that shocking actually, heard all about it before seeing it and when I saw it I just though meh, what was all the fuss about... unless I've seen an edited version?

Well the original scene has two of them take it in turns on him while the guard watches at the window. It was very shocking at the time, not only was it a graphic rape scene but it involved young boys raping another young boy... but it does indeed look tame compared to the piece of evil shit that is Irreversible. Sickening and needless.

Having seen both Scum and Irreversible, I have to say that I found scum far more traumatic to watch. I will never watch that film again, and I don't say that lightly. Irreversible, the rape filmed in one shot is disgusting, but didn't leave me shaking at the end of it, like Scum (I'm a sensitive soul).

Sensitive souls shouldn't be watching films like Scum :)

Scum is a favourite of mine, I've sene it so many times over the years maybe I've become a little desensitised to the greenhouse scene. Irreversible affected me deeply, I'll never watch that god-forsaken film again. I thought it was shameful. :(
