Which films had one sequel too many?

^ the last Rocky and Rambo movies gave fitting enRAB to each series, so should rather be in the catagory "which series of films ended on a high" (or something similar) :cool:
 
The sequels you mentioned weren't true reboots. A reboot is when a film series wipes the slate clean and starts a new continuity, such as Casino Royale or Batman Begins.
 
Pirates of the Caribbean

First one was a good all round fun film, the second two should never have been made, crimes in screen writing ugh.

But Friday the 13th does fit this thread with the last sequel (blah.. that word doesn't really apply cos the 2009 movie was a reboot and a reimagining of the series, but I'll say sequel just so I can put it in here)

Previous 11 were admittedly not oscar worthy but were defn a great deal of fun. Then the ptb in all their wisdom chose to fkover all the loyal fans by rebooting/reimagining things only 2 movies away from the coulda-been awesome-of-awesomeness of a Friday 13th Movie Part 13 released in 2013 on September or December Friday 13th - that alone would have been enough for a whole bunch of millions of dollars for the openning weekend. But no the ptb give us that big bunch of dodo that both destroyed the character and destroyed the series. :mad:
 
Have agree with that one. It was one of the few sequels that totally f*cked up the universe set up by the original film.

I couldn't believe just how bad it was!:mad:
 
The American Pie: Presents should never ever have been considered for one never mind actualy making 5 or 6 of them.

The first 3 American Pie films were gold.
 
Series spoiled by sequels

Jaws - Jaws 3D was just awful to watch

Shrek

Austin Powers - Goldmember just wasnt funny

Nightmare on Elm Street - Though Wes Cravens New Nightmare was a very good addition to the series taking a look at the subject from a different angle

Robocop

Terminator - Agree with above comment. 1 & 2 were great. 3, not so much but ok. 4 was just wrong. I wanted to see what happened in the minutes and hours after the war started.


........Theres just far too many where sequels have been made simply to cash in.

The Matrix - the ptb ruined it all by giving us that crass open ending instead of the matrix within a matrix reveal that would have rounded off the series perfectly. Some don't like No2 with its wordyness and (tothem) complicatedness, but all the ptb needed to have done was use No3 to clarify No2 and give us a proper ending, rather than set things up for the computer game (iiuc one came out soon after) then my No3 disc wouldn't have been discarded to the "never watch again" bottom drawer.
 
Home alone, bloody hell they did that one to death, the third and fourth ones were dreadful. I don't count them as having anything to do with the classic home alone 1 and 2, my favourite christmas movies.

And the scary movie/ blah blah blah, epic, date and disaster series. awful drival. Funny in bits I suppose, but getting even more moronic as the stuff continues. Epic movie was so bad I almost cryed.
