Which films had one sequel too many?

Die Hard 2 wasn't that bad. Ok it wasn't in the same league as the first film but it was still a pretty good action film. The rest are average at best, partly because they suffer from the 'don't go over a 15 rating' syndrome that inflicts just about everything now.

Damn I miss 80s action films. :D

Yeah that one surprised everyone.

"Hang on?! You're telling me that they're all aliens and Macleod wasn't born in a small Scottish village so obviously did not have those cousins he had in the first film, that they can come back to life after having their heaRAB cut off despite what Sean said and they knew each other before being exiled to Earth but forgot. Did they even watch the first film or what?"

The "Police Academy" fims had 6 sequels.6 sequels too many

I'd say that Rocky 5 is the only bad 1 of the bunch

I thought "Jaws 2" was alright.I've only seen "jaws 3" once & i didn't like it & i've never bothered with "Jaws 4"

Alien Resurrection makes Alien3 look like Citizen Kane.

Terminator 3 and Salvation are just shocking.

Critters 3 and 4 have nothing of the charm of 1 and 2.

Return of the Living Dead Part 3 destroyed any semblance the first (very funny) 2 created.

Porky's, The Revenge Of the NerRAB, Weekend At Bernie's, Caddyshack and Major League all had sequels the devalued the originals.

Teen Wolf Too.

The Sting 2 (It was made, look it up)

Blues Brothers 2000 is a discrace.

But worst sequel of all time, ladies and gentlemen may I present to you.....

Highlander 2 OMFG:eek:

Really?? Other than Die Hard 2 I thought the Die hard 3 + 4 were pretty strong. Die Hard was a classic it is the action film of action films. Die Hard 2 (imo) was good. It wasn't the best but wasn't terrible. Die Hard 3 was good a bit different from the first 2 but still pretty good. Die Hard 4 is a brilliant action movie imo I watched it again the other day and thurrely enjoyed it. By far the best action movie for a while I think it is extremely action packed and was a good comeback. Just so you know a 5th one is going to be made.

Anyway back to the topic umm The Matrix definately. Can't believe no-one has said Batman (the originals) Batman and Robin is the worst superhero movie ever made!!!

Land Before Time.
I liked the first one but all the others could not get into.
Maybe be if I was younger but I have only ever watched the first one.

Now they are like 12 or more.

Most film series suffer in the 3 instalment onwarRAB, personal notes:

Back to the Future, 1 excellent, 2 pretty good, 3 poor
The Matrix, 1 excellent, 2 pretty good, 3 ok
Star Wars, 1 excellent, 2 excellent, 3 ok, prequels ignored
Jaws, 1 excellent, 2 good, 3 crap
Underworld, 1 excellent, 2 excellent, 3 poor
Blade, 1 excellent, 2 excellent, 3 poor
Pirates of the Caribbean, 1 excellent, 2 good, 3 ok
Indiana Jones, 1 excellent, 2 pretty good, 3 ok, 4 poor
Final Destination, 1 very good, 2 excellent, 3 ok, 4 good
Alien, 1 excellent, 2 excellent, 3 good, 4 poor
Predator, 1 excellent, 2 good, 3 good
Aliens vs Predator, 1 poor, 2 poor
Resident Evil, 1 ok, 2 ok, 3 poor, 4 poor
Friday the 13th, 1 good, 2 ok, 3 crap, 4 poor, 5 poor, 6 poor, 7 poor, 8 crap, 9 poor, 10 good

Same goes for Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Wrong Turn, Hostel, SAW, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jurassic Park, The Dead Series (Night, Dawn, Day, Land, Survival, etc), Return of the Living Dead Series, Shrek, Robocop, Terminator, Die Hard.

There are some that buck the trend though, The Lord of the Rings and Toy Story for example.

Rocky: Great first movie, and although winning the title at the end of the first sequel was the only way to progress in the story, parts three and four were totally pointless. Five was, for use of a better word, shit. "Rocky Balboa" ended the series on a high though.

Rambo: Pretty much like Rocky, Stallone took a character and (through sequels) turned it into some sort of superhero up to the point it just became a farce.

Back To The Future: I know some people liked it a lot, but part 3 was nothing more than a re-telling of the first BTTF but set in the past. BTTF2 wasn't much cope either.

Lost Boys: First movie was an 80s classic - sequel was one of those WTF moments.

Home Alone: the first sequel was nothing but a reboot of the first (still funny). Least said about 3 & 4 the better.

Jaws: should've ended the series at part 2. When it came to a point where the shark developed a mind of it's own and went out looking for Brody's family, it became silly.

Final Destination - just reboot after reboot but with extra gore in each.

Grease/Saturday Night Fever: how could 2 of the highest grossing movies of the 70s produce unbelievably bad sequels? Grease 2 was bad, Staying Alive was awful.
