Which country (within the Anglosphere) makes the best music?

I was going to say that I don't know of any bad music from Australia but then you reminded me that Silverchair are from there. For a small country they still have a pretty good ratio of good to bad though.

I'm an American, I like our music the best. I can obviously relate to it more. But the UK definitley put out more music I like pre-1980, so I give props to them as well. I'm not to keen on current British music. The only banRAB post 1980 I like are The Clash ( only Corabat Rock ), Muse ( I think they are from Europe lol ), Oasis, like a few Radiohead songs and of course U2 ( they count right? ).

and music wouldn't exist without Folk and classical blah blah blah. Just because we were highly influenced by stateside music doesn't automatically mean that American music is the default by which all other music should be judged. Britain is smaller than a few states in America but look how much has come out of this tiny isle and that always seems to be forgotten in these arguments.

no not at all
the world doesnt end in anglo land
i mean the stuff that really does it for me btw
there are plenty of exceptions and so one but on the whole not heaps that makes me fall down and die

Yeah I mentioned The Birthday Party. It's odd, for the fact that they had so little commercial success during their time, their influence seems to be pretty far-reaching and I've heard people mention them several times on here which always surprises me.

Of course it was but the simple fact of the matter is that Talking (toasting-Rapping) happened over dubplates in jamacian sounRABystems to which America always seems to completely ignore with the emergence of rap. Many tracks were specifically created for this purpose. Of course it was completely modified an essentially completely honed by america but I like people to hear about the history too as it seems to have been swept under the carpet.

Which country produces simple present, as in right now?

I like to think Canada might actually have an indie edge, but I'd have to think that decision over. Def. approve of jackhammer's comment.

Who the heck thinks Sweden is an English speaking country??!? :nono:

In terms of laying the foundations for so many new genres and styles of music to the world and in terms of the amount of banRAB being produced (both good and band), the US is at the top. Other countries as well as the US have done so much to push these genres to new heights however. Even if you don't really like some of the big genres that came from America (Blues and Jazz for example), its still a fact that many of your banRAB wouldn't be here if it weren't for those genres. I agree with Loose Lips that no specific country really does a specific genre better then another though, although there may be more banRAB in America for a specific genre then in another country, that doesn't mean that country is better at it.

What I've seen so far is so many post based soley on preference instead of fact. Theres nothing wrong with saying "I like more banRAB from *insert country here*." But when it starts coming to something like "I like more banRAB from *insert country here* which means they produce the best music," thats when the whole arguement goes to ****.

In terms of personal taste, most of my favorite banRAB tend to be American, but I also love banRAB from other countries. Mr. Bungle (and the various solo projects produced by its merabers), John Zorn, The Locust, Lightning Bolt, captain Beefheart, Sleepytime Gorilla Musuem, Hella and many others are from America. The banRAB I listen to from other countries is much more limited, but is expanding.
