Broken plastics do cost a lot to replace. You can buy unpainted race plastics ( snake skins .com)and do it your self. If you are just patching up some road rash, take the plastics to a body shop. Sometimes a little filler and paint will work wonders.
I had a guy that used to do the scratch and dent repairs at the car dealer I was working for. He would fix panels for about $100 bucks. He really did a kick ass job too. Check with a local car dealer and find out who they use. Ask him...
Good luck

half the bike price is probably close to being right. plastics are damn expensive. your best bet would be to look for unpainted, unsanded ones that you can sand and paint yourself.

try googling racing plastics for the 09 ninja 250. There'll probably be a page that has a bunch of different fairing components. Only thing is yuo have to make sure the ones you get have holes for turn signals and the headlight.

airtech-streamlining.com replaced $6500.00 worth of Ducati body for $968.00US.They also make carbon-fibre replacement components.

Keep in mind 2008 on up will work for your machine. Before 2008 will not. Search ebay, call local salvage yards. But yeah, body plastic is expensive. Also try doing a websearch for motorcycle salvage yards and type in exactly what you want. Be wary of the automated responces that some send back no matter what. Stuff like "we have your part, call us for the price" do little when you are comparison shopping. There are several REALLY LARGE cycle salvage places out on the west coast, particularly s.california. Since bikes are bigger out there and ridden more frequently, because of the better year round conditions I would start my search there.
