Where and how can I get TMC receiver for Panasonic sat nav.? Or will others work?

Just bought a new old stock Panasonic CN-GP50N sat nav. Bargain price and nice piece of kit. As they seem to be discontinued they do not sell the optional TMC (Traffic Updates) receiver. So do you know where I might get one? Would a different manufacturers one work if the plug on its lead was correct (its a mini usb)? Have you tried that and did it work?
Not essential but since the facility is there and free would like to be able to use it. All help appreciated
