When you invite wildlife into your garden......?

...do you only welcome the "correct" type of wildlife??
I don't think you can pick and choose what you feed, I mean sure you can get rodent proof bird feeders and such but on the whole if your feeding the fauna in your area you can't get cross at other wildlife chowing down??
My neighbour is shooting the crows in my area because they pulled down a blackbird nest in his tree...bad for the blackbirds but...isn't that what happens in the wild??
I have chickens and the crows often help themselves to a bit of chicken food..but in return they keep raptors away from the chickens, so I can live with that.
What do you think? Is he right for taking revenge on an animal doing what it does, or am I right for saying you should either vermin proof your feeders or deal with it?
EDIT: Bub, crows keep hawks and other raptors away from their own nests by chasing them away ergo, they stay away from my chickens....and we are not talking about rats and mice, crows do not constitute a health hazard to humans. And when I had mice I bought a cat. Its a case of striking a balance.

If he is shooting the crows and the pellets are leaving the boundary of his property - he is breaking the law and can be arrested and his weapon seized - report him to the RSPCA and they will look into the matter and advise the police.

Also worth noting - just found this

All wild birds are protected under Section 1
of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
It is generally an offence to intentionally kill,
injure or take any wild bird or to take,
damage or destroy its nest or eggs.
