When did the first civilisation begin.?

I think I have a relatively standard knowledge of history but I realised the other day that I didn't really know when civilised society had begun. Can anyone give me some dates about the advancement of human society? Would be interesting to know.
 
And now you've made me wonder what civilised society is, lol. The first of the stable communities we have (meaning they no longer use the hunting and gathering, nomadic lifestyle) is at Catal Huyuk, dated from about 4000BCE, this is an area in modern Turkey. About 4000BCE is the beginnings of civilisation on the Nile too. By 2000BCE there are very established communities/city states across Europe, the most recorded of which are the Phoenicians, mostly at Tyre, the Mycenean Greeks, the Minoans in Crete.
