What's your favorite Horror flick and why?

They don't make horrors like they used to in the 80's. I hate it when new horrors come out rated 15 to scoop up a larger audience. Keep horrors 18 I say!
 
The remake of Dawn of the Dead (18 certificate). It's great, zombies that run are so terrifying! And it's more horror than the original which I like.
 
I was petrified when i first saw halloween, ditto friday the 13th,

All the horror movies i prefer seem to stem from the 70s and 80s IE omen, exocist, halloween so on but that is not to say i don't like any from nowadays, i really enjoyed saw and i like wrong turn :D
 
Aye I really thought that in that case it was a great re-make as much as I revere the first one. Love 'em both.

There's a great bit of humour in the re-make, the guy in the gun shop is hungry and I think its the boat owner guy who says something like what do you want me to do run over with a ham sandwich. Cracks me up everytime.
 
Did you see those films when you were younger though.

I'm the same I look at those films and think, now those were Horror films! But I saw Friday the 13th when I was 13 and seeing someone with their head pinned down and then a skewer/arrow tip thrust up from beneath the bed and through their neck I tell ya I needed clean undies that night.

The Omen, that music gave me nightmares for weeks.
 
Yeah i saw them when i was younger, if i watch them now i think what the hell, this scared me?? lol but i tell you what really scared me and that was psycho 2 my god truly creepy
 
Phone (Korean) - Because of the part played by Seo-woo Eun who couldn't have been any older than 5 years old. She played a truly amazing and disturbing role.
Undobutfully the star of this movie.

A Tale of Two Sisters (Korean) - Superb film and very original storyline which is hard to come by these days in movies.

Ju-On (Japanese aka The Grudge) - Very scarey.
 
I would have to say Scream.

I have loaRAB of horror films but this one can never go out of fashion.

Coming in second place has to be The Grudge and third is Wrong Turn.
 
Halloween. I love the fact that although you never actually see Michael that much, you always know he's there lurking in the background somewhere.
 
I'm with wendyg in this and loving the asian horrors, in comparison anything done by Hollywood's crap with one or two exeptions.

One being The Hauting (the original) I saw this when I was about 7 or 8 and it scared the shit out of me, and it still does.

Two being the remake of House on Haunted Hill, it's so camp its delicious and a little bit scarey too

The Exorcist. :eek: This movie still freaks me out thinking about it. Also The Omen, The Sentinel and most of the horror flicks that had anything to do with devils etc...lol. I still get the shivers.

IMO today's horrors are much too contrived and often repeats with more special effects....but not the same spooky atmosphere or scary music.

I also think the origianl Japanese movies are much scarier than their American rehashes.
 
Dont Look Now just because of the ending and horrors like Pyscho, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday 13th..i can't remember if it was Halloween or Friday 13th in when you knew the killer freak was near you would hear that noise like whispering or something....that noise freaked me out for years!

Jaws (horror?) would be up there too.
 
I find it strange whether these two films are mentioned, that 'Black Christmas' which in my opinon is a better film gets overlooked!

Can't wait for the remake of 'Black Christmas' being made by the 'Final Destination' team as l heard positive reports from those in the know!
