I would say that it does hurt people. Its humiliating. Youre a father or husband taking your family or wife to a restaurant, hotel what have you and are told you have to leave because "we don't serve your kind" is very humiliating.
I see your point. How should a society act to prevent the suffering that would be caused by racially or religiously discriminatory businesses, though? As a broader question, would you say it makes sense to talk about groups of people having ethical responsibilities, or is it only individuals that can be considered ethical actors?
this argument is fucking retarded. You want a business license? you follow the fucking law.
no one is forcing you to open a fucking store and serve fags and black people. you open a store, you agree to the rules put in place governing commerce.
So I'll ask again, how is mandating who a business owner must do business with ANY different than mandating that you must be friends with people of other races?
Really, I don't that much of a problem with it. I do think a business owner should be able to reject service on whatever criteria they want and should not have to justify themselves, but at the same time the only people affected are douche bags, so.... yeah.
What I do have a problem with is the retarded perversion of this position the opponents have, choosing to just call everyone who disagrees with them "Dumb racists" or whatever, or choosing to just say "This is how it is because of this civil rights act, period." as if how things currently are is in confusion.
I agree. Forcing people not to come in because they're of the wrong ethnicity is unfair, UNREASONABLE, Evil, immoral, unjust, disgusting, unethical, morally corrupt, contemptuous.
The English language is very colorful when it comes to words, not that any of them will be "precise" enough for you, given your pitiful stance on this matter.
Private business = you don't have any inherent right to use it. You are allowed to go use that business and exchange money for food. You are not entitled to do so, because it is not your building, it is not your food, it is not your time that keeps it running.
Nevermind how history has shown that allowing discrimination leads to a larger division between races - how it leads to segregation. Nope, gotta let all that slide in the name of big business.
This pharmacy had been very marginal for a long time. The only way he made ends meet was by selling grocery store type items, ice cream, etc. Now all his racist customers are upset beause the government forced the pharmicist to sell to that race. So they choose to do their shopping in the neighboring town, and order their pharmacy needs online. The store goes out of business, the pharmicist goes on welfare, the kids turn to lives of crime, and his wife becomes a prostitute.
The next person of that same race comes into town because he lost his asthma inhaler also. There is no pharmacy in town any more, so he dies too. But this is ok because there was no discrimination.
Sure, but I have no issue with moral imperatives. I do with government requirements, though.
