What's wrong with protecting a private businesses rights?

Not at all. The civil rights act is one of the least reprehensible ways that the government has overstepped their bounds.

Still makes for an interesting debate though.

I have to think that one of the funniest personal experiences of "really fucking stupid" government laws that I've experienced has to be the time I rode up with a friend from Hawaii who is a huge cigar fan. So we go up to a humidor shop that he orders stuff from all the time then has shipped back home. Not being a smoker, I don't care about cigars but a nice long motorcycle road trip in the fall is something I'll never pass up. So we get there, and go in the shop, and he starts placing his order and they want to show him some new cigar brands and he asks to smoke one. They oblige him and he starts to light up. They stop him and says he has to go outside. He asks why. They say that the law prevents anyone from smoking indoors. We both laugh and say are you kidding, it's a cigar shop. The guys laughs and says, yeah it's stupid, you can't smoke in a cigar shop. So he starts walking towards the front door and they stop him again. The owner says that the law says you can't smoke outside within 20' of a public walkway. So he has to go out back to light up his cigar.

Now if that isn't the dumbest thing I've ever heard of, but hey, that's that law and the government fucking with a private business.

So, you believe in private business, but you don't believe they should have a right to run their business however they want?

Sense, that makes none.

Using someone's private business is NOT a right. At all.

It's cute that you make statements like "Oh so LOL you're just a standard racist!" but when questioned about how you got that conclusion, you can't offer shit.

:word: Why should a hospital be forced to provide care for a damned colored boy? land of the free bro

Yeah, because we all know that plastic surgeons aren't real doctors and they only do reconstructions for horrible accident victims.

Jesus Christ, step into the real world for a change.

How can you even be argued against when you don't have the slightest understanding of our position nor do you try to understand at all, you'd rather just go "LOL you're a stupid racist, biggoted piece of shit!" when race has NOTHING to do with our position, at all.

you're either really really dumb or really really racist. It's the only 2 solutions for wanting to make discrimination legal.

i agree, that's pretty fucking stupid.

but, there is a way to make a legal "smoking room" inside the shop. there's a cigar shop in my town that has one.

It would be disgusting if that happened, but just because you need something someone else has doesn't mean you have a right to it.

A "free" market isn't free either way you spin this....either patrons are turned away due to some circumstance (race, gender, sexual preference, etc etc)....therefore removing the freedom from him to choose where he/she does business / consumes from.....or the government forces a business to serve someone they just might not want to.

wtf.............. um, no.

a doctor is a businessman; his craft is his knowledge. why is he any different than a carpenter?

...I agree. Let the hospital lose the business of 10% of the population and anyone else who disagrees with its stance. Let's see how well it does compared to the hospital down the street.
