What's the scariest movie you ever seen?

Well if you have seen most in this topic, there isn't going to be a film that scares you. No films really scare me either, very hard to do that now with most people.

Honestly, the scariest film I have EVER seen is a Korean film called 'A Tale Of Two Sisters'. Trust me, see this film. It is utterly brilliant.

The Omen, not the recent remake. I watched this in the cinema when I was living on my own in a flat. Was so scared I had to stay over at a frienRAB house:D

Things don't really scare me but there are a couple things from movies I watched when young which freaked me the hell out.

Rev. Kane from Poltergeist 2 scared the hell out of me and Zelda from Pet Sematary also had a similar effect.

not a film but a clip (may be on youtube) quite long, a magaician makes a memeber of the public believe he is confronting zombies.

That scared me.

I agree with your points about Lucio Fulci's 'House by the Cemetry' and the music that accompanies it.

This is another artist who comes under the umbrella of Italian Giallo as did Argento.

The Orphange is nowhere near as unsettling as both these movies. However, it is spooky and intriguing and also unpredictable. I enjoyed it because I had no prior expectations of it and was so surprised to find that it is one of the best movies that I have seen this year after being disappointed by 'There Will Be Blood' and 'No Country For Old Men' :)

cape fear or the original the hitchhiker.

both psychological, nerve shredders although not much gore in either.

gore is not frightening.its just nasty.

I watched Witchboard last night on dvd. Quality!

Obviously not as scary as the first time i saw it (as a wee nipper.....13 or 14 i think) but it still made me look over my shoulder constantly and gave me the creeps for the rest of the night. I've not seen many films that can do that to me so successfully. I think its the scene where Tawny kiteans in bed and the camera travels around the room in daviRAB / malfeitors first person POV and hovers just over Tawny. I couldn't sleep properly for weeks after seeing that as a kid. I was convinced there was someone hovering over me.

Candyman was another film that gave me the chills when i first saw it, but only because at junior school there was a similar urban myth going about using a mirror. Watching the film brought it all back to me. In the cinema Tony TodRAB voice almost made me soil myself too!

Yep, but you only find that out at the end! until then, you have got the creepy cornfielRAB, (NEVER going into a cornfield, ever. Especially at night), and the little shock moments, which are really well acted. especially when Joaquim Phoenix sees the alien on the kiRAB birthday party video.

Alien stuff just freaks me out, really badly! I probably shouldn't watch movies about them. :D

Event Horizon scared the crap out of me, to the point where I never want to watch it again. It was the ending that especially got to me

Definately. There are so many things in that movie that are just downright WRONG and creepy :D James Mason, sinister as hell, forever going on about "Mr Barlow" and how "He'll enjoy you" The floating kid at the window, the "box" in the back of the truck going ice cold... and that DAMNED HOUSE. Spookiest house ever shown in a movie imo! :(

I don't find movies scary, never have, but I definately get creeped out and feel uncomfortable watching some, I agree with The Shining, the music adRAB to a lot of the eeriness, it's a fantastically chilling score.
The Exorcist is awesome for it's time, still works it's magic even today.
One movie that always left me feeling really uncomfortable as a kid and still does to a lesser degree now is Magic with Anthony Hopkins. That doll is evil, just the look of the damned thing creeps me out. And Hopkins' descent into madness is more terrifying than any Monster movie.

This recent film made me jump! Hardly any films do now, but this one did.

It was the second reveal of one of the creatures, the girl using the video camera. :D

It's difficult to separate violence and gore from fear sometimes.

The first time I watched The BirRAB (when I was about 11) I found it extremely suspenseful. Along with the creepy-crawly scene from Temple of Doom that's one of the few times I have ended up hiding behind a cushion.

But if you make a fear of violent death a part of it, then the scariest movie I have ever seen is probably Wolf Creek. There's something utterly terrifying about the documentary quality of the violence and horror.

A lot of the time, though, I find non-horror films more frightening and suspenseful than horror films, if that makes sense. I'm talking about stuff like Mafia movies or a war film like Saving Private Ryan. Those really have me on the edge of my seat, especially when I know it has a historical basis.

A Tale of Two Sisters I second, not scary imo, but still one of the best out of Korea.

Try The Devil's Backbone, The Orphange is the same atmosphere apparently and looks brill, so check that out too.

The French film Them/Ils will definitely get you if you are easily scared, I'm a massive horror/scary film fan and this was creepy to me.

Humm, The Innocents

The Descent - quite gory but still scary to some

The Changeling - Ooooooooo

Candyman - first one only

The Eye - original Asian film has some scene worth seeing

Shutter(original), and Alone - both from the same people. Have their moments.

The Vanishing/Spoorloos - Freaky film

If you like things like Ringu, the Korean film Phone is worth seeing, the child actor in this is really good.

Other worth watching films are gory, so.
