What's the differences between a handgun that has a "stainless" finish, or a

"blued" finish? Are the handguns with a stainless finish made of stainless steel? Do the ones with a blued finish need more maintenance? And is a blued finish better for shooting in bright sunlight, due to the suns reflection, that would occur on a stainless?

"Blued" is an oxidied finish created by chemical process, similar to the way they electroplate other finishes to other products, such as gold to a coin or teflon to a pan, using electricity, acid, heat, and or other methods.

Stainless steel is just its self, except the mixture of metals determines its grade, its rustproof, and strength. Cheaper stainless steels will stain and rust, and not all as strong as others.
 
Well, i hate to state the obvious, but stainless is stainless steel, and blued is a surface finish over steel.

I would avoid blued finishes for a carry gun, and i would also avoid mirror polish steel. Most stainless models have a matte or brushed finish to cut down on glare.

Blued guns can be beautiful, but not the most practical. The bluing can also be damaged by some cleaning chemicals.
