The big difference is how wattage is determined.
An HONEST company will express watts in RMS, that is root,mean,squared. This is .707 of peak. This is the ONLY HONEST EXPRESSION of audio watts.
Some slick scammers call is IPP - instantaneous peak power. This is a fraud. Clock radios are rated 80w IPP when the audio amp may put out 0.5w RMS.
Then there is peak-to-peak. PTP is double peak, so 1000W PTP is really 500W peak and the real value is still .707 of that to be correct.
