What's the best way to further educate myself as a Draftsman / CADD

Technician / CADD Operator? I'm a recent graduate from a community college where I earned an Associates in Applied Science for Architecture. With this I landed a job as a CADD Technician (operator/draftsman etc.) at a large Engineering firm. I want to further my education and prove my worth to show my bosses that I'm serious about my position and I want it to go further and receive higher pay.

I know the ultimate answer would be "go back and get a bachelors then masters". Very true, but given the economic climate and my past financial situation and even my age (26/27) I don't have the resources to go on and make school full time for another 3-5 years. So I'm looking for some ideas that would at the most maybe take a week, a few nights, a day etc. That would be continuing education to make my skills stronger.

When I recently received my full time promotion I was talking with my boss about my future and he said the true best option would be to get a bachelors, but given how much I make coupled with my expenses, that's unrealistic. But he had said that I could maybe take classes that teach me how to size a beam and the such. But I would also like to take classes or seminars that help my AutoCAD skills as well.

Any ideas or recommendations? Thanks. If it helps, I'm in the NYC area.
