1. The way they are so serious with the game of baseball
2. Their education system and how much pressure they put onto themselves to succeed (Japan at one stage had the highest youth suicide rate)
3. THey have awesome festivals (coming of age, flower, doll, & the cultural festival)

I try to learn about different cultures from events like the Matsuri festival http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh_5pACTKU0 , Oktober Fest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEqk3xNDEQs , Phoenix Feis, the Irish Cultural Festivals and pow wows, but events like these are more entertainment and only a glimpse, I would like to learn something relevant from peoples of those cultures.

That if you're going there for a holiday, it's best to go and do a short tech course on how to drive a Japanese toilet.

Youch !

.

that manga/anime and all things the like suck big time and are seriously corrupting the minds of youths in almost every country and its very sad. grown men looking at hentai cartoon porn or reading childrens books its so sad

They respect other people, and it's good and bad.
They are usually so polite and nice, that's great. But they try to be like each other, do like other people do, don't stand out, etc.
There are outrageous youth culture, too, but they also are doing it because some other people are doing it.

Well, I just learned this today.
Japanese couples who give birth to a Down-syndrome baby look at that baby as bad karma. They are ashamed of that baby.

Something interesting that I learned. And of course, this isn't true for absolutely every Japanese person/family. As nothing is absolute.

Oh, and I forgot. This is applies to asians, not just the Japanese.

And one more thing I learned tonight. They have the utmost respect for teachers. They never question teachers, because they view it as disrespectful.

The world should definitely know how welcoming and hospitable the Japanese are. I feel very comfortable there.

The Japanese people I've known are very disciplined. They lead very disciplined lives.
