I seem to recall a few years ago about how a film studio picked up the rights to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, but nothing has materialized since then.

A quick check on imdb.com lists something due in 2010 but does not give any more details. So does anyone know what's happening with this film?

To be honest I would rather they turned it into a short TV series, spanning say 8 or 9 episodes. If anyone has read the book then they will know there is a lot of action in it, with various hostage and rescue situations. A mini-series would have been ideal as each episode could end with one of these situations as the climax for that week. All the while building up the characters stories and the sinister main plot which the viewer would get hints about each week till the final two episodes where the truth comes out in a "oh my god" moment (if you read the book you would know what I mean). :D

turning it into a mini series would be a better idea, as it would break up the story better! and it would mean that virtually all the main scenes, and hostage situations, would be intact within the story

i wouldn't call it an "action story" per se, as it's very short and sharp ..... it's more to do with the buildup to it!

Yeah as I remember when I first heard about the film I thought to myself "How are they going to cover all the main scenes in 2 hours?"

I need to nick the book off my brother again, this has put me in the mood to read another time :p

Oh my, please don't even suggest that! Rainbow Six is an excellent book, with a really good story to boot. If they make the film even a fraction as good as the book it will be 10x better than SWAT. :)
