I have replaced new valves new cam sprocket new cam chain new cam chain sliders. Set the valve Clarence on compression stroke.Every time I try to set the timing according to the manual It is always a half a tooth off and will not run right. What am I doing wrong?
The year is 2000. the service manual says there is only one way the timing will work proper but the chain will not let me get in line with the proper timing mark. The manual says to line up the (T) mark on the flywheel through the inspection hole then line up timing marks on the cam sprocket but it will not line up the link of the chain is where I need to be to get the timing properly set . It either runs to hot by moving the timing sprocket away from the original or before the timing marks what could cause this to happen is the timing sprocket part of the crank or is it on a keyway?Thats the only thing I can think of could have happened, I also have had the flywheel off to check that, which I put a new keyway in. My understanding by following the manual everything should line up but the timing just will not line up no matter what.
