What watch do you wear? Part 2

Luminox use tritium for lighting, which is a radioactive isotope and has a 12 year half-life. So it will typically in around 10-12 years fade and substantially.

Lot's of pilots use them. I had a vial of the stuff, which was excellent when I first got it 10 years on it was poor. Basically half the brightness maybe less.

On a more OT point... looks like I'm sticking with my U-Boat Classico for a while longer. It was supposed to be sold to part-fun my 756, but no takers so far so it looks like it's staying. Can't say I'm disappointed at all

Having had a chance to look at one a friend bought (different model) I was disappointed. The actual case itself struck me as very bland a bit cheap looking.

Given the price of them I was actually left feeling they are overpriced watches especially as you can drop another couple of hundred quid and buy some top mark second hand watches serviced with a one year guarantee.

Don't want to knock CW too much as its a really good idea and its great to encourage new watchmakers especially in the Uk but the design side neeRAB a bit more quality and pizazz.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy a gmt2c or a subc.

Out of the 20odd premium watches i've had not one has had a gmt hand so I'm leaning towarRAB the gmt.

Any thoughts on your sub? I tried the gmt on in my AD the other day and I must say, I really like the ceramic bezel, much nicer than i thought it would be.

not sure how i have missed this thread for so long. my current watch is a cartier pasha power reserve. just bought the stainless steel band for it as well to replace the aging black leather alligator strap that is came with. will throw a pic up with the new band on.

have to take it for service soon unfortunately though which is a bugger.

did have a submariner and miss it but for some reason am still wanting a daytona although i will not spend the ridiculous prices people are asking for them now. prices just seem to be increasing for that watch every month. Could have bought one for about £4200 back when i bought the submariner a few years ago and now you would be lucky to see one under £7k!

I'm not a watch aficionado but certainly see the point of a certain level of quality as for years I used to buy a new cheap watch (£10-20) pretty much each time the battery died but around 8-10 years ago I 'splashed out' about £70-80 on a Pulsar Kinetic and it's still going strong, although it could do with a clean and it's picked up quite a lot of scratches! Considering I wear it every day and wore it for years to work when I used to do fairly heavy maintenance work it's lasted really well.

I don't go in for jewellery so a watch is the closest I get to that. Not sure I'd pay out a lot for one like some people here have though - £100 is probably as much as I'd pay.

But my 20 year old Navi 3100 cost me less than £500 and it's in superb condition. In 10 years time it will be easily worth that and maybe more ! If any increase covers batteries then this will be a free watch, which is nothing to be sniffed at.

A very nice watch... but anti-magnetic with a gaping hole in the back seems a bit of a shot in the foot!

In regarRAB to the Steinharts above, I personally can't get passed the fact they are quite blatantly taking an IWC design and putting their own badge on it. However good the quality is, the fact they are doing this - and they do it for their divers too, blatantly taking a Rolex Sub' design - means I see them in the same regard as fakes. I know they aren't fakes as the IWC logo isn't used and they aren't pretending to an IWC, but it's too close for my liking.
