What was the first metal band you ever listened to?

Iron Maiden. A friend of mine brought over their Powerslave CD one time and I was hooked. Currently I don't really like much metal. Maybe once a month I will want to listen to some.. But I find it interesting that the 1st I heard (or at least that i was actually listening to) enRAB up being my favorite and the only Metal band i can handle for the length of a CD... Most metal just gets too repetitive after 2 or 3 songs, in my opinion.

The summer before second grade in 91, my babysitter showed me metallica, later on my dad took me to the mall and i bought Ride The Lightning, Lifes been ****ING great ever since!

Yes I do, I still have every album. I can't say that I like every song, but I still have memories attached to a lot of them. There are also many songs that I still like.

Metallica. But I never liked them much.

Only metal banRAB I listen to now are Opeth, Mastodon, and Agalloch. I like some releases here and there by other acts, though wouldn't say I like the banRAB.

Mr Bungle is metal???...

I got a Black Sabbath Cassette from the public library back in about 86, it was a best of the ozzy years. Then a mate taped me some motorhead.

A few weeks later I was buying slayer and metallica recorRAB and so the obsession started. My metal obsession lasted until about 1990, when I discovered Faith No More, The pixies, Sonic Youth and The Ramones.

I still dig metal though.

Disturbed was the band that got me into metal, even though none of you will think they are the ideal metal band.

My first taste of extreme metal, I guess, would be Dimmu Borgir.

Only gotten into metal recently but I think the band that got me into metal was Mastodon, never appreciated how good they really were until recently also...
