What Type of Music Relaxes You the Most?

I really dig some slow, atmospheric instrumentals when I have time to sit back, not do **** and just chill. Earth's The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull is a prime example, as is Red Sparowes' Every Red Heart Shines Toward the Red Sun and Pelican's The Fire in our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw. I just realized that each of those albums have retardedly long titles. Coincidence?

Arvo Part's music manages to relax while still provoking emotional response. "Spiegel Im Spiegel" especially.

I'd argue. I don't think it does, but that's just me. I'd say it's one of BH's best albums. Better than Crime Slunk Scene or Monsters and Robots (and that's saying something).

In the wee hours of the morning, this album is so very very beautiful. So focused and yet so free... (That sounded pretty flowery and whatnot, but you get the idea.)

cocteau twins
mogwai (yes! i am a long way from home, especially. amazing song. also christmas steps, but then it feels like i'm having an orgasm when it kicks in)
right away, great captain
massive attack
bon iver
my bloody valentine
volcano choir
slowdive
nightmares on wax

Definately check out Mew ("156", "Comforting SounRAB" and "Special" especially), I find it so relaxing. Also, look up "Rainbow Flows" by Husky Rescue - without a doubt the most mellow song I've ever heard.

I would post Youtube links but I can't until I have 15 posts. :(

I can actually chillout to real noisy stuff if it's at the right volume and I'm in the right mood! However I almost always listen to the same band when I am either reading or catching up on sleep (I work nights- gimmie a break!)

Not many people would listen to them which is understandable but the added dimension is their lyrical content and imagery which goes back to Dark Age Britain.
