What type of music fan is the worst?

For one, I don't know too many prog fans who discriminate against prog thats not very complex or are that anal about technical skill.

I mean, you can't possibly be that closed minded if you get into something like prog in the first place. A genre many people hate for finding it inaccessible. For one prog banRAB draw inspiration from just about any genre you could think of. And more importantly prog is very broad, there are many prog banRAB who are at opposite enRAB of the sonic spectrum.

Take many of the most popular prog banRAB of the 70s, everyone from Yes to Hawkwind to Gentle Giant to Caravan. All these banRAB had a sound that was completely unique from the other and from any band that came before them.

Lozzles. Hard-Fi are MAJOR LABEL in every sense of the word. A fat fockin' contract with Warner Bros themselves.

Arctic Monkeys, however, are as it happens an indie band. Zero, why the hell would you think otherwise???

The most irritating are prog fans in general, as they think music has to be really complex and shiz in order to have the slightest serablance of value...which is a load of utter rubbish. In fact, the irony is that complexity comes over creativity for that lot, especially given the fact that the vast majority of the neo-prog music they listen to is so completely derivative of early 70s music as to induce laughter. And does virtually nothing new or cutting edge whatsover.

Then, Pitchfork-type indie fans are often twonkish as well. Actually, indie kiRAB are frequently complete idiots. But firstly, Pitchfork types are idiotic because they are just as elitist as prog fans! They openly scorn various genres (particularly prog, in fact) just because they're not supposed to like it according to "party lines", so to speak. As for many indie scene kiRAB in general, then they're annoying because they put "cool" and "image" over the music itself. They couldn't give a damn how uncreative the Libertines were or the point that none of them could play their instruments at all and that their second album was a load of tripe. The fact is that they had the best image of all time and that's all that matters.

Metal fans are twonks for, as has been pointed out, thinking that all other music is for pussies. I've seen at least one friend turn into a metalhead from having been a massive Coldplay fan, and the result was not a pretty sight to behold.

Many rap fans can be complete twits for being uninterested in listening to any other sort of music under the sun simply because it's not "cool" enough for them. Well, so some of that type of fan might listen to a bit of cookie-cutter contemporary r&b too. Whoop-tee-bloody-doo.

Country fans...I'm not even gonna go there.

Music "fans" who listen only to stuff on the radio, in shopping malls, TV advertisements and MTV and stuff...they're tolerable. But then, they have no refined tastes and are thus boring, so they suck too.

The world would be a better place without music fans...

Actually the music fan I dislike the most are the type who say things like 'how could Elliott Smith and King Crimson be winning this poll?'.

exactly. only now it's not limited high school or college or generations. look at how bent out of shape some people get in this thread when their chosen style is said to have the worse fans?

and with this comment i'm off to see the queens of the stone age. :tramp:

MetalheaRAB, because anything that isn't metal 'is for pussies'.

Mallcore KiRAB (kiRAB who shop at hot topic and listen to ICP & Slipknot)

don't even get me started on these walking abortions. Every time I see a 'juggalo' I get sick.

I meant it in the sense of "prog" and the "criteria of a prog band". Plus, I was only trying to capture the types of sentences you find evangelical proggies using: "Band X, load of piffle. Not progressive at all."

Well I'm just referring to the types who do. Of course not all are like that, just like not all indie fans are Pitchfork twonks.

If you wanna take "creative" in its literal sense then yeah, fine, but to me that's just special pleading. Creative, in an artistic context, is conventionally interpreted as innovation and originality.

I suppose the first scene I latched onto was the metal scene but the narrow minded attitude of most of them annoyed me then, even though my musical tastes were barely defined. I tired of the scene quickly not in a musical sense though (I still listen to a lot of Metal) and cut off my hair and ditched the pretence.

I find narrow minded fans the worst in whatever genre they prefer although Dance and Metal fans seem to be pre-occupied with millions of sub-genres, with many sounRAB being small variations on the same scene.

I do think as you get older you don't need to fit into any particular social scene and end up expanding your tastes.

On the contrary, most of the metal-heaRAB i know aren't like that at all. True, they're not really that open-minded, but they don't go around insulting other's tastes and they seem to have a real genuine love for what they listen to. Must only be where i am!

Those ICP type fans sound horrible but i've never really encountered any, there was one on here a while ago though wasn't there?

Classic rock fans for me, the epitomy of close-mindedness. There's a whole group of people in my school who think music begins and enRAB with Led Zeppelin, which is very sad.

ha, yeah she wasn't a friend... just a chick at a table with my other frienRAB (no friend of mine can go that long without hearing of popular rock banRAB). I just found it baffling to have never heard of them, I can understand not knowing their music.

Never heard of such a group.
I've noticed quite a few of your posts...do you like to rant just for the heck of it? There's little to no though put behind many of your posts.
What's next...music fans who listen to music?
