What type of music fan is the worst?

Actually, i know quite a few ppl like these.
Whenever i listen to the beatles, all of them Fvcking ignore me saying 'I listen to crappy love songs' and go back to their linkin park/Lim bizkit/korn/ stained/creed/Googoo dolls/etcetc.
They haven't even heard of Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead or even for that matter, Jimi Hendrix.
They have however, heard of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin(yes heard of) because of two friggn songs-Stairway to Heaven and Another Brick in the wall(both of which was played at a local bar i think).

You are a tool.

Moving on...

1) Modern elitists: kiRAB who think "mega talented banRAB" like killswitch engage are the greatest thing ever because "they're so talented." They're really not at all, they just play fast, but fail to produce something that sounRAB remotely good.

2) Classic Rock Elitists: People who claim everything that isn't classic rock is crap. I love classic rock, but it's not the only thing that is good. They funny thing is that they argue that classic rock is so good for its innovation and what not but when innovative banRAB come about today they dismiss it as crap.

3) Anyone who listens to rap/top 40 crap/nickelback type banRAB/country/etc... all of it is awful

Honestly, I picked up on it very fast... the first time I played it I was terrible but the 3rd and 4th time I was better then the guy who introduced me to it (who was playing it for a few weeks). Then I played it a lot for a couple of months but realized I should be putting that time into my REAL guitar. Now when I have time to kill I throw it on and play a few songs... really, you gotta believe me!! :shycouch:

Like boo boo said, Prog is not progressive in the sense of originality/innovation, it might have been originally, but I think that at the moment Prog means progression inside of a song itself. The majority of prog is based around some sort of progression inside of a song.

But it does generally include substantial compositional sophistication. And the sorts of fans I refer to think this is a prerequisite of music having any value.

Mallcore kiRAB give me the hebbie jebbies...:shycouch:

but yeah metalheaRAB,scenekiRAB and Juggalo/Jugglets are the most close minded individuals I've ever seen.

oh god dont get me started, my friend is obsessed with them and liquid tension experiment. he wont listen to anything that doesnt have pounding double bass and guitar shredding.

no but in all honesty, metelheaRAB are the worst kind of fans.

As a fan of metal, metalheaRAB are the worst type. Most of them are just too close-minded. I would complain about the elitism of some of them, but elitism is present with many other genres too.

Some indie fans can be quite annoyingly close-minded too.

I don't know that many prog fans that actually think this way, sure they exist as I already explained, but they're not that plentiful. I find the prog fans here and the other forums I visit (including progarchives) to generally be very open minded. Not including prog metal fans though, they are awfully annoying.

Also I don't see why its so laughable to like something even if its not that original, sure Flower Kings are about as original as Stone Temple Pilots, but they're still a very talented band with the knack for composing really good prog songs. I'd rather listen to them than something I think is crap regardless of how original it is.

I mean you're a Nirvana fan (I am too) and lets be honest, they weren't hella original, they too were just recreating a sound that already existed, but its a sound you love, and thats all that matters right?

I think pitckfork types are way worse than any prog fan (Ivan included) you could throw at me. I certainly consider them way more pretentious. Try making a point of comparison this way. Read reviews from progarchives, people there tend to be very specific in discribing every song in great detail, yeah thats goddamn annoying, but at least their reviews are about the music.

Then go to pitchfork and read their reviews, where they basically pull any random word they can find out of a thesaurus regardless if it actually discribes the music. I mean just read this to see what I mean.

Amazing how many adjectives they can use and still manage to say absolutely nothing about the music.

What are you claiming I have misunderstood? The issue was quite simple. You claimed that Hard-Fi were an indie label band, and I proved that not only are they NOT one, they don't even identify as one.

And don't give me the "I don't really care" claptrap. If you don't "give a crap if they're indie or not", then why respond to a post with your OWN claim that they supposedly were? Good Lord.
