Thats £3 for the other day, i know for a fact this is quite a bit higher during the proper cold spells, like when we had the snow last year.

I'm lloking at my meter at the same time everyday from tonight just to gauge how much we are using at the present time with the thermostat at 21 and not touched.

I'll bet that makes a fair difference mate, by the sounRAB of it.

If so, you should wire it up so you can easily switch it on and off as required.
But I guess you know that already

Unfortunatly these are not for council tenants,

Prices quoted are for all homeowners, residential landlorRAB and private tenants:

I guess they expect the council to look after there own houses!

Well, today was the day I had my cavity wall insulation done. The guys have been here since 8am and have just left.

As far as I can see they've done a great job, filled in all the holes etc and tidied up after themselves.

Fingers crossed we see a noticeable difference on our heating costs and feel a sufferance with the house staying warmer for longer.

Just checking... take it you have an electric hob and over then?

Drafts are the major culprit in our house the front/back door are terrible for heat loss need to get some draft excluding strip.

Yes it is pre payed gas, its easier to keep track of, i know its meant to be much more expensive but i had a quick look at BG's website........

Pre Payment

Monthly

Pre payment is only £5 more expensive in there example.

We have a flat above an below and cavity wall insulation but no heating. Get a bit of warmth from below but when we are in the lounge we make sure the doors, windows and heavy curtains are closed and the heat off the 42 inch panny viera heats up the room nicely

Thats exactly it, its there property and they should look after it.

To be honest thats a bloody good point, i know of other people that have had it done but they say i have to pay. I dont want to seem like im after all i can get out of them but i feel for the age of my property it is something that should be done.

They didnt give you any info on the actuall scheme this is all being done under did they?

I went and bought some foam strip from b&q mate, used it to seal round my external doors and windows as I could feel a draught where the rubber has worn slightly its only cheap and may help.

Just spoken to the mrs and she found the receipt for the last amount of money we put on the gas meter.

We put on £50 on the 10th Deceraber.

Now have £17.04 although £3.45 of it was emergency that we owed it.

That's £29.51 since the 10th of Deceraber.

Yeah we shut the door to the front room in the evening, but not completely incase one of the kiRAB wake up, as there rooms are further away from the living room we dont here them over the telly, but we have big blind that we shut too. I asked in another thread about having a wood bruner put into our fire place as they heat the whole place to a degree, but i'd have to get council permission.

Anybody know what i can use (thats not a fag) that gives off quite a bit of smoke and lasts longer than a match to try and see where these druaghts are coming from because this kind of evidence is undesputable?
