What speeds do you get?

My ISP is a small local Finnish ISP called TOASnet and my theoretical line speed is 100Mbps, although I've never maxed it out in practice. I think the best I've seen is about 7000KB/s.

My max using usenetserver is ~2.2MB, or 20Mbit.

Someoone probally answered in the OP's questiosn already in these 6 pages, but to download at 6500k (6.5MB) you would need a 60Mbit line. 6554kb/s is a 6.5Mbit connection, not MB (megabyte).

You don't know bit conversions do you?...*Tsk Tsk*, quite sad. You would need a 48Mbps Connection to download at 6.5MB/s. Divide the MEGABITS by 8 to get MEGABYTES. Please, inform yourself before misinforming others.

This is further complicated by the fact in UK we have Max DSL which tends to mean speeds up to 8 Meg. I tend to range between 4-6 Meg on usenet thats because that happens to be my speed for that time of day. Coupled with traffic shaping ISP's speeds can wildly differ. All I can say is I find usenet about 10 times faster than Bit Torrent lol.

I have a 10Mbit line and I have got up to 1200-1300KB/s. Newsgroups are insanely fast. I usually get 1150KB/s or a little more.

100 Mbps! Holy purple tights Batman! Curse you Virgin Media, curse you to ISP hell!

I'm on 8Mbps and I use SSL connections to my news server so I get 850KBps 24/7, otherwise it drops to ridiculous speeds in the evening - they even half it during the day too.
