what size amp do i need to power a kicker 15" sub?

I have 2 audiobahns in my 97 moutaineer, but i am taking those out and replacing them with a kicker 15, would a 1000 watt amp power it so the bass is strong?
 
Ya it should beat decent. Check the rms of your speaker, then get a amp that puts out X RMS. Remember, look at RMS not peak power. RMS is what really matters.
