What should i get for car audio?

I want a decent car audio system. I wanna go with either 2 12's or 3 10's. whichever would have more bang for my buck. I dont wanna pay anything more than 1000 dollars. I have no idea what im doing with car audio so i want as much information as possible. size, cost, best value, anything will help. thanks.
 
if u have a hhgregg store go there and buy the mtx terminator 12 inch subs and amp its a combo deal at hhgregg for under 300 hundred dollars i have them and r lovin them lots of bass but not boomy bass these r in a sealed box
